What is Mediation and how does it work?
Mediation is a process by which parties address and resolve all issues relating to their divorce or separation. Discussions are led by a neutral third party referred to as a mediator. Unlike a litigious process, mediation is amicable, affordable and time efficient. At the conclusion of the mediated process, the parties enter into a settlement agreement, a filing is made with the court and the court issues a judgment of divorce.

How long will it take?
Unlike litigation which usually takes years to complete, the mediation process is fast and efficient. Every situation is different, but most clients complete the process in as little as 3 meetings. At the conclusion of the meetings the parties will have a binding settlement agreement and are considered legally separated. After all the documentation is submitted to the court it typically takes the court 3 to 4 months to issue a judgment of divorce.
